John* reached out to the Veterans Council of Indian River County. He was in complete desperation and didn’t know where else to turn.
Will you make a gift today so that the Veterans Council of Indian River County can help a veteran like John?
John had been feeling an increase in stress and anxiety for a while. His hours at work had been cut back because of COVID-19. His unemployment benefits barely covered rent and food. Not to mention the added expense of having his three children home in the sweltering heat and on the internet all day. His electric bill had more than doubled since March. When I heard the stress he was under, I knew that we had to help. John had come to the Veterans Council as a last resort. He needed immediate help with paying his bills and needed someone to talk to about his stress, anxiety and PTSD.
If you are visiting this website today, it is because you care about veterans in our community. Twenty-two veterans die by suicide on a daily basis in this country due to increased pressure, stress, anxiety and PTSD. The Veteran Council is a resource for all veterans in our community providing assistance through our many programs, community resources and collaborations. We don’t know who will be next. But we need to be ready!
As the world continues to deal with a global health crisis and an economic crisis, one thing has become abundantly clear: We need connection. We need one another because we are stronger together. Can we count on your donation today?
