Dear Veterans Council Members and Partners,
The Veterans Council of Indian River County (VCIRC) shares the concerns of our community as we all go through this state of emergency due to the coronavirus also known as COVID-19. As a result, VCIRC is taking the following precautions:
- We are a small staff and are adhering to best practices in cleanliness, hand-washing and social distancing within our office environment.
- Our office hours will continue as usual (Monday – Friday, 10am – 4pm). We are here to serve our veterans in need with answering questions and providing referrals to available community resources. We are also checking telephone messages during non-office hours, so please leave a message.
- All membership meetings and board meetings are canceled until further notice.
Our Transportation service to the VA hospital in West Palm Beach is operating as scheduled. Our busses are being wiped down and disinfected on a regular basis and our driver will help to enforce social distancing while on board. Please call (772) 226-1695 to schedule your trip (24 to 48-hour advance notice is required for scheduling and social distancing purposes). If you are ill with flu-like symptoms, we encourage you to seek local medical attention. Unfortunately, for the safety of our staff and others on board, we will not be able to accommodate your trip to Palm Beach.
Our Veterans Helping Veterans program and Upward American Veterans Program are available to help provide emergency funding for essential bill payments for honorably discharged veterans. If you are an honorably discharged veteran or know of an honorably discharged veteran in need of assistance, please contact the Veterans Council. (772) 410-5820.
Each of us plays an important role in keeping our community safe and healthy. We have a responsibility not only to our work and our mission, but also to each other. We strongly encourage all community members to follow these practices (from the CDC):
Please check for updates from Veterans Council by email or on our website and Facebook page. Be healthy and happy until we talk again.
In the service of the community,
Veterans Council of Indian River County
